light speed

I recently purchased a tripod to use with my camera and what a difference it makes when it comes to delayed shutter photos.  While my shots are far from perfect yet – still trying to work on light exposure timing – I've already improved immensely over trying to stand still for several seconds.

when the ants go marching

the ants were emerging in droves a week ago from underneath my neighbour's driveway.  a sure sign that spring is also upon us.  hopefully more signs will be springing up soon, not that the sun-rain-sun-rain pattern isn't sign enough.

Princess (1988-2006)

Princess wasn't my cat, but she did belong to my fiance.  Unfortunately age finally took its toll on her and she passed away the other night.  It's funny what kind of affect our pets can have on us.  They may not be human, nor can we have conversations, share secrets, see movies with them but we connect and bond with them at almost the same level as we do with other people.  They are considered best friends and family and to lose one is like losing a brother or sister.  Princess may not have been the cuddliest cat in the world, far from it actually, but there was still that strong attachment there between her and my fiance.  Princess lived a relatively long, healthy and happy life and she will not be forgotten any time soon.

for whatever reason, I like taking photos of my cat.  however, she doesn't always want me taking them.  this is one of those moments.  she was trying to sleep and didn't appreciate that I was disrupting her.
